Browse the Net for Free with Opera Mini

Browsing the Net for Free still works with Opera Mini! I browse and make downloads with no charge at all. This technique will surely work because I am just sharing to you the settings in my phones. I use N70 for both Smart and Globe and N6230 for Globe.
Note to foreign readers , the settings are good for Philippine networks only. You can use this post as guide but instead use your subscriber's homepage and GPRS Settings.

Note: September 5,2014. An updated and working version of this post is found in Browse the Net for Free with MyGlobe Connect. The post talks about Opera Mini for symbian phones which is optimized for Globe/TM. If you are a Suncellular user, you may want to check How to Access the Internet Even Without Load in SUN. If you are an android phone user, you may refer to Browse the Net for FREE with Your Android Phone and Opera Mini. The guides are detailed already, so very suitable for first time users.

What you need:
· Smart users: Download Opera Mini 2.06 (I got this from esato forums)
Download OM 4.2 Smart
· Globe users: Download OM 4.2 Globe
Opera Mini 2.06- Download Opera Mini 2.06.
· Activated GPRS sim card. (Smart: SET phonemodel send to 211 or Globe: GO phonemodel send to 2951 for free) Example: SET N70
Or you may want to manually input the default values, refer here.
· Phone with GPRS
Most of the settings are for Nokia users and for those who do not have to use the prov files to make it work. For other brands, try to explore your phone. The settings are just there as long as it’s GPRS capable.

What to do:
· Setting up the Internet Profiles
Only Globe users who opt to use the OM 4.2 will need to follow steps 1-3. Otherwise, proceed to Step 4.
1. For Nseries (N73, N70, N82, etc), go to Tools>Settings>Connection>AccessPoints>Options>New
Select the Use existing settings choose myGlobe INET (SmartInternet).
2. Rename Access Point to say, Globe Net Opera (Smart Opera). Any name.
3. Press Options>Advanced Settings. No port and no proxy
(For Smart) Proxy: 190.129.10.245 Port 80

For N6230 likes, go to Web>Settings>ConnectionSettings>Active web setting
Activate 'empty'. Then go to Edit web settings. Rename it to your desired name e.g. Globe OM.
homepage: http://www.globe.com.ph/globe.asp
Disable proxies.
Data bearer: GPRS
Go to Bearer settings.
GPRS access point: type http.globe.com.ph
Authentication type: Normal

Smart OM
Enable proxies.
Proxy: 190.129.10.245
Port: 80
Data bearer: GPRS
Goto bearer settings.
GPRS access point: internet
Authentication type: Normal

· Installation
4. Install your downloaded Opera Mini directly from your phone or transfer it through bluetooth or use Nokia PC suite. All files are jar format. Globe users can completely install the modded one even with zero balance and Smart users need one peso load.

· For 4.2 ver, there are no more tweaks needed for it to work. Just allow access to network and use the Access Point you had created above. Only uploading and browsing are possible. No video streaming (needs working proxies). It's good for browsing on desktop view.

· For Opera Mini 2.06
Smart: You need at least 1 peso load.
Create an internet profile with the following values in your connection settings and activate it:
APN: internet
Proxy: 190.129.10.245
Port: 80
Run Opera Mini then click OK when you reached the first page. Go to Menu--Tools--Settings--Netw0rk. Uncheck Shadow connect.
Scroll down and edit the opera mini server to:
http://clickhere.ph/cgi-bin/nph-proxy.cgi/011110A/http/94.246.126.253:80
Uncheck reset OM server at an error. Save.
Clcik My Opera at the Bookmarks and use the profile you created above when OM asks to access the network. Once you accepted the end user agreement then you had installed it successfully.
You can download and browse for free with this version but it is always in mobile view. Will not work with zero balance, always maintain at least one peso load.

Globe: Zero load will still install the 2.06. Use the default myGlobe Connect when OM asks to access the network. Wait for the error in connection message. Ok and you will land in the Homepage.
Go to Menu>Tools>Settings>Network.
Check Shadow Connect> enter in address box: http://www.globe.com.ph/globe.asp
Type in Opera mini server: http://wap.portal.globe.com.ph@server.operamini.com.
Uncheck Reset sever of an error. Save. Click My Opera link in the Bookmarks. It will take awhile to load. If the "info Repeat inquiry" shows, press ok and click the My Opera link again. It will now work.
You can download and browse for free with this version but it is always in mobile view.

To download in 2.06: in your CP menu, go to Tools>App Manager>Options for Opera Mini2.06>Suite settings. Change both Read and Edit User Data to 'ask every time'.
Everytime you download a file, edit the url in the downloader manager. If you are using Smart, insert insert
wap.igmat.tv.t9space.com/power/s/http/ after the http:// in your download link. Like, http://wap.igmat.tv.t9space.com/power/s/http/www.mediafire.com/blahblah. Scroll down the download page and uncheck the "Return to browser w/o report" option.
If you are using globe, use wap.portal.globe.com.ph@. Like, http://wap.portal.globe.com.ph@www.mediafire.com/blahblah

If you are downloading from mediafire, there is a trick for the download link to show up. Once you are on the mediafire page, you will see the download in progress notice. You just have to reload the page and the download link will show up. Press # then 0 in your keypad (Reload shortcut keys).

If you want to download files from hosting sites that allows countdown timers, like mediafire, megaupload, 4shared, rapidshare, etc., use AED Dloader. Learn about Aed Dloader.

This last part is still not working for free. I included this in case you want paid streaming. I will make the updates once I figured out how to make it work again.

To stream videos using in Opera Mini: In real player option menu, change the connection setting to the default SmartInternet or myGlobe Stream configuration.

Browse the Net for Free with Your CP as Modem

I tried another option to have a free internet access. This time it is using my phone as modem. The setup is applicable for both Smart and Globe.

What you need:
Smart Users should have at least one peso balance in your account. It won't connect if it's zero.
Globe users zero balance is right enough. I tried it this way and it really works.
Your cellphone (with GPRS or 3G) with good signal.
Activate GPRS for Smart: SET fonemodel send to 211. Globe: GO fonemodel send to 2951.
Nokia PC suite (any version)
Opera, Firefox, or IE
Data Cable (I prefer it for faster connection). It's only 60 pesos in CD-R King.

How to do:
1. Connect your modem-capable cellphone (as for me 6230, N70 and N82) via USB cable. Haven't tried any brand so, I can't comment. You can explore anyway.
2. Run Nokia PC Suite.
3. Click "Connect to the Internet" Icon.
4. Click Configure (the wrench icon) in the pop up window. Choose your Phone Modem in the Drop down dialogue box.
5. Click Next. Tick Configure Manually. Enter APN.
for Globe users: http.globe.com.ph
for Smart: internet
6. Open your Browser (I tired it with Firefox and Opera 9.62).

In the Address bar type:
for Globe- http://3g.myglobe.com.ph.flyproxy.com
Alternatives: concealme.com or kproxy.com
for Smart-http://wap.smart.com.ph.flyproxy.com
Alternatives: kproxy.com concealme.com or 67.159.31.142
Remember you just have to edit the last two words in the address to use the alternatives.

And wait for the site to load. The address masks your IP ad so you can browse undetected. In their site your can find address box to enter URL. Enter your desired URL like google.com, yahoo.com, friendster.com. any thing. But the capability of the proxy site is only limited. Sometimes, I cannot log-in to friendster even if I can click the log-in button. Sometimes pages are incomplete. Once you got the site working, you can now Enable your javascript to have a best view of the sites.

One more thing, You CANNOT watch online with these proxies but you can make downloads.

Sometimes it gives error but that ain't true, just refresh. Sometimes it's fast sometimes it takes time to load.

My antivirus was able to detect the sites as inappropriate so make sure that you add them to trusted zones or if not, disable your antivirus.

How to Freeze Your Computer to be Resistant to Viruses?

Do you know that there's a software that even if you load up your computer with viruses and you messed up with its system, it will still run on the state before you messed it up when you restart it? I tell you, how this done.
It is by making your computer system in freeze state. It means that you freeze the core of your computer in a good state, no viruses and running in good mode. So, even if viruses attack the system of your computer it will be resistant to that and will restore back to the state it had been before it was attack after restart. An antivirus will be unnecessary.

Just a reminder, this is a powerful software. I tried to install it and I had a hard time removing it. So, install it at your own risk. The trick to uninstall it is to make your computer date in the future (after the expected expiration date). The uninstall button which was not present in the Add/Remove Programs before will now appear.

The downside is:
1. you have to use USB to store your files. You can also partition your hard drive into two (C and D). Then you only freeze the C drive in which the operating system files are stored. Then the D drive will the only one vulnerable to viruses. And this also where you store the files you have made since if you store it in C, it will be time to say bye-bye to them once you restart. Because as I have said it restores back to its previous state.
2. Every time you have to install new softwares, you have to unlock it and it requires a restart which will be a tiring process as for me since my laptop is kind of sluggy.

How to Send Text/SMS Message for Free using GPRS?

Note: There are two ways to do this, the first requires chikka account and the second one only needs any mobile browser, no need to register and log-in. There's a third one (mjoy) but I won't recommend it because you have to do some activity to gain credits.

If you already have unlimited Operamini or mobile, then let's start.

First One:
With your mobile, go to tjat. The site is a compilation of web messengers from yahoo,aim, msn and 2 others.

Click the chikka icon and it will prompt you to login your chikka account.

You must first hit "Remember me" then a screen will appear informing you on bookmarking the page so that it won't be a hassle. Do what it says coz it's true. And you will be directed to the previous page.

Click "connect" and you're done.

The page allows you to change your status, hide/see who from your contacts are idle or active.

To send message, click send message, enter their fone number along with the country code like 63 (drop +)or chikka id. Enter message and ok.

There will be two options for your message to be sent 1) to Pc 2)to mobile. Click your choice. At first msg, it will say no alerts for pc something, that's normal.


Second way:
Go to Davaodirectory. Just input the sender and recipients name, then the number of the recipient. It's better viewed in mobile view because sometimes the ads intervene with the send button.

You can send 20 messages each day to Smart/Globe/TNT/TM users.
I don't know how they count the messages sent.

How to Insert Y!Site Explorer Meta Tag along with Google's?

If you already have the meta tags from Google in your HTML codes and tried to insert also the meta tags from Yahoo, you will surely encounter error even if you already did the simple instruction (near the head command). When you preview it, red fonts warning appears that says it is parsed and there are errors.

After i submitted a url in Y! Site Explorer, i was asked to authenticate it. The only option available to Blogger users is through meta tags. But the HTML edit template in Blogger always regard my pasted meta tags as parsed or broken link. Here's what you will do.

1. Copy the code that will appear and goto your Blogger account.

2.Customize>Edit HTML and click the box with lots of alien wordings.

3.If you remember, you have to place meta tag from google after the head command. Above that meta tag, paste your copied meta from Y! site explorer.

4.A slash is missing in the code. Insert one between " and >. So if you have <Meta name="y_key" content="43086a3499def"> it will be <Meta name="y_key" content ="43086a3499def"/>.
5.It won't error anymore when you preview it.
6. Go back to site explorer and hit Ready to Authenticate.

Stumble Upon Blogger: Lessons from the Journey

My beginner lessons in blogging had taken me to lot of sites. Thanks to tips-for-first-time-blogger and Make Money Online authors. Their tutorials had helped me grasped the new setting that i am in.

i was able to insert gadgets above and below my header and was able to have a three column template. The experiences had exposed me to HTML codes which i am only able to recognize few commands (my programming skills are only limited to SAS and Visual Basic). There are many of tweaks available and i think i won't try it all.

I had been reading my homeworks on RSS Feeds, traffic, url submission, ad placements, search engines and blog directories. Thanks to Google for having the tools and the noob-friendly guides in their help. Yahoo's are not all free to use. I had involved my profile in different blogger communities.

My setting up is almost done. The next task is to have more people learn from what i am doing. I am thankful that you are being one.

Marky Cielo (Ditto)

This post will be based from what i had read on the web regarding his death. It's all pure speculations (since the family had not vocalized the true cause of death). There is a known said-to-be official reason, "bangungot" or pancreatic something. It will also reflect some of my views as an observer, i know i don't have any rights to make something out of this. I only heard his name when the news started. Today, he was delivered to his final destination. People from the industry, fans, and relatives had been there to give farewell to the man who had been part of their lives--as an admirer or as a close friend.

I am not aware that there had been rumors regarding his death. When Kris Aquino had stated that it is bangungot, i have accepted it as is. It's like another Rico Yan story. But when i heard interviews of his mother, i began to suspect something is up. Her words doesn't express so much grief but the feeling of loss and hurt are there. Her tone of words reaches me as "if only". If only she will be given another chance, that could not have happen. She is blaming herself as well! And that made me come to think why is hate present? That's when my search started.

As of the moment, speculations had branched out from bangungot. Personal problem which lead him to hang himself or overdose himself with pills. Drug abuse. Health issues like being an HIV+. The reasons all account to personal issues.

On drug abuse, it was believed to be ecstacy since he was a teenager and liked to go "partying" with his friends. But having the good boy and the Big Brother personality, i think this rumor is way out of tune. Unless, it is a habit.

What most people believe is that he was having grave personal problems. Many was hinting on the words from his mother's interviews. "...Matanggap namin ang GINAWA, kalagayan mo ngaun." (may we be able to accept what you done, what happened to you). Mine was when she said that he has to accept the responsibilities of his actions. It was speculated that he hanged himself after he made his confessions to his mother regarding his big problem. The big problem was said to be his involvement to a girl who is in a relationship with someone whose dad is in the military. So, the dad having influence had threatened to end his career and to kill people from his family. Another angle was he had made that girl pregnant and Gma network had found out about it and informed him that there will be possibilities of less projects. Stories had risen that he had been crying on the fone talking to someone while at the internet shop. It was also stated that he had been attempting to call his manager who is already asleep that evening. Then went home and confided his problem with his mom. The following morning, he was found hanging in his room. There were evidences of bruises on his knuckles. He was wearing turtle-neck shirt in his coffin to hide the marks. Those who embalmed him had said the same thing to someone they know. There were also stories that the church had refused to grace him the burial rights (suicide is a mortal sin and those who committed it were not allowed for blessings). The priest had mentioned it to someone.

If it was HIV, i don't think he would do such thing. Though not curable, at least it takes years.

If he got someone pregnant, i also don't think that he will tackle the problem that way. He is a man. If it would affect his career and image, didn't he save his winnings and income?

If the threats were true, then i don't think i can comment on this. He is in real dilemma.

The public will continue to develop theories regarding his death unless the family shows what's behind the death. If they won't, time will let us forget. But did we forget about rico? Did we accept the known cause as is? Even now i still wonder when i hear his name. Also, people are expecting for the autopsy to go public.

If they are protecting his image, i don't think that the public views of him will change. We are open-minded people,right? I think the truth will not be a bother.

As of now the best thing we can do is respect the silence
though we are bound to search for answers.

The Things You Think You Know About Cameron Diaz

Remember the girl who sang out of tune in a bar but still made the crowd ask for more? The one with smiles that reaches the ears, the one with that staring blue eyes. She shook her booties as if they are moving on their own and danced along the controversial Penis Song. That celebrity is Cameron Diaz.

She is of Cuban descent (her name proves it). Born on Aug 30, 1972 (makes her 36 this date). She became a model at the age of 16 and had been working for Levi's and CK. Her modeling career had let her travel the world. She started her acting career when she is 21 in the movie The Mask. Her 'public' boyfriends were Matt Dillon (Never thought that they belong in the same age bracket), Jared Leto, Julian Barry, and Justin Timberlake (9 years younger than her). She starred in Vanilla Sky, There's Something about Mary, My Bestfriend's Wedding, Charlie's Angels, The Holiday, What Happens in Vegas and many others and lent her voice to Princess Fiona in Shrek. She had an obsessive-compulsive disorder and germophobia.

I can only cite few besides what Wiki mentioned.

1. She is an environmentalist and had delivered a lecture regarding environment in Stanford University. She is part of a community that helped the victims of hurricane Katrina.

2.In Wiki, she only ranked third (after Julia Roberts and Reese Witherspoon) among the actresses who received a paycheck of 20M for a picture. Based on my previous reading, she is in second place after Ms. Roberts.

3.She was paid 15M for her role in The Sweetest Thing but the movie resulted to flopped in the box office.

4.Her leading man in Sweetest Thing, Thomas Jane, said that during the making of the film even though he thinks that their kissing scene was a good one already, Cameron still called for a take two to redo it.

4.She had a private surfing training in Hawaii.

5. In the movie What Happens in Vegas, the scene where she and Ashton Kutcher are drunk and getting married, they were really had shots of booze to make the scene natural. You should watched it in Youtube, they are really funny. But that scene was only shown for few seconds.

6.A magazine had called her a cheater while she was involved with Timberlake. She and a producer were seen hugging backstage. She sued the magazine and told them that it was only an innocent hug and they should stop the publicity.

7.She had broken her nose four times! Maybe due to her tomboyish acts way before. When it happened the fourth time, she had undergone surgery to fix it. Not for vanity reasons. A clot had formed in one of her air passages which makes her breathe through only one nostril.

8. She never looked fat. Her body figure changed but the changes improved her looks and maintained a slim one.

Does she have plans of getting married and having babies? She is 36 already. Well, Nicole Kidman had her baby at 41. Lot's of time.

I am always amazed on the way she does comedy films. Always so bright and gay and acts with no sweat. Keeps bringing the aura that life is one such happy fact.

Who is Marky Cielo?

When I heard the news about his passing, his name is just a name for me. (ok,now you hate me, i am just telling the honest truth). I stared at the moving image of him on the news yet I can't seem to remember him. I had watched portions of Asero before but still no click from my brain. Who is he, then?

He died, inspired and brought pride to people but i don't know the person even as a celebrity. He surely made it to the news when he won 'the ultimate male survivor' and the first and only 'Sole Survivor' title. Maybe i was so eat up with my studies that time and TV viewing had been out of my system. Never heard and never seen. The news of his sudden death had made so many people disappoInted. He had potentials and talents to make it to stardom (he is in the process anyway, the Guillermo Mendoza Award had seen it).

After the news was aired, i made a research on what it is like to be Marky Cielo. Wikipedia had presented detailed facts about his life. His family status, the time before he became a celebrity, filmography and the last hours before his death (makes me wonder why he used internet cafe if he can have wifi in his house, he won 10M right?) He was tagged in articles as the first celebrity with indigeneous descent. Is he proud to be named that way? For those who are also not aware of his existence in the showbiz industry, they will also remember him as That first celebrity who died young, goes with the name of Rico Yan and Mico Sotto. That's all. But for those who had traced and been in his progress in the industry, marky cielo is a good friend, dancer and all the good things you can say to sympathize with the dead. That's the way life is. You died, your death made it to the news, lots of people came into your wake, your life ended. The sad truth is in time,it will be great if generations can still remember your name.

Everytime i heard his name in the news, i don't know why i always have the feeling that tears are forming in my eyes. He was a stranger to me but i am aware of the feelings when someone died unexpectedly. You can't accept it and continue to live as if he is still there. You can only deal with it once you become lonely and acknowledge the feeling of being left behind. They say time will heal the wound. As for my experience, you can neglect it but never forget. Every time you remember, the feeling rushes back.

For the man who earned different titles during the short span of living. May the world will remember you in different ways.

China Phones: Is it Good Enough?

Recently, NTC were raiding stores that sells china and cloned phones. On their reports, these phones pose health risks to users. Ok, i got the warning. They said they that they were smuggled with no seal from NTC. But i am still lucky to have a D2600 phone. I don't know if i will be sued for owning one. Below are the specifics of my phone.

My phone is not a tv-phone but it's a touchscreen with wide screen.
2.0 mp of camera (not good quality shots for a 2.0 mp). It can edit shots and can be set to match the environment. Pictures can toggle from vertical to horizontal views.

Not 3g. But other phones have this common feature.

Screen resolution is better than n70.

Menu view is like that of iphone.

Can be used with two sim cards from different networks simultaneously. When you receive messages, it will indicate which network as well as when receiving calls.

3D sound with loud volume. But when you maximized the vol, the sound will be like crashing metals and high pitched.

Can load txt format files so i read ebooks there, more handy and energy efficient.

Video and music quality are good, i like the player for both. You can watch movies with it as long as you have large micro SD memory.

FM capable. Can be played in loud speaker and can record music played on air.

Bluetooth function.

With headset but it now needs to be replaced.

The package contains two batts. Each batt runs for 4 days on texting and calling only. Two days when multimedia devices are oftenly used.

Can recharge using pc and electric source.

Can transform into a web cam that i use for chatting and also as a flash drive when directly connectd to pc with data cable.

I can browse the net using it but i am unaware if it can play java games. Haven't tried opera mini with it.

There is only 1 prob with that phone, it doesn't have sent items folder. And a tiny flaw also, it can't personalize msg alert tone and accesories are rarely purchased in stores. So, when my charger blew off, i had to open my laptop for my recharge. Globe sim cards can't function in the slave connection, makes it my master network. Glad to read comments!

How to Read Ebooks using PSP?

Do you use your fone to read ebooks? Well, there is also another way where ebooks came in handy, use your psp (though psp is a lot bigger and heavier). I used to read them through my china fone (i will make new post regarding the good things of having that illegal fone).
Actually, there are 4 ways. I'll list them in order of ascending preferability.

1. Save the ebook as html file. Copy the content of the pdf format manually and paste it in MS Word. Click 'Save as', drop down option in the FILE TYPE box,choose html,not the htm file,ok? Name it in a way that it will be easily typed and remembered since you'll have to type it in your psp like, x.Html. Send to the root memory of your PSP (connect first the PSP to your desktop with usb cable then enable usb mode). Your drive name can be f: or g:. Unable usb mode in your PSP after transfer. Go to the 'Internet Browser' of your psp. Click 'no' if asked to connect to the internet. Press triangle and go to 'Tools' (the toolbox icon). Set cache setting to 'Do not use' and ok. Go to address bar and enter 'file:/x.Html'. 'file:/' input shortcut is under 'http://' button while 'html' is entered by pressing the GHI4. Enter. Your file will load now. The problem with this is that when you have long ebook, error will occur due to less virtual memory. And you cannot bookmark them, it starts from the top everytime you open it. It's tiring to browse long pages.


2. You can upload the pdf file in your e-mail address and open it using a PSP with internet connection. There won't be problem with the low memory. But of course, it needs active internet connection. You can't read your e-book while riding a bus.


3. You can use the PSP Ebook Creator. It's free! DOWNLOAD PSP EBOOK CREATOR. Install it in your desktop. Open the pdf file, ctrl+a, copy, paste in notepad, and save it as txt file. Or you can direct the conversion in adobe or foxit under FILE Menu. Plug PSP to desktop and enable usb mode. Run ebook creator. Go to FILE>load ebook and look for the saved txt file of your ebook. Ok. For the output folder, go to FILE>OUTPUT>PSP>PICTURE. With this application, you can instantly preview your ebook in the PSP image found at the center as you personalize the view (portrait or landscape), fonts and font color, background color and headers. I suggest you use dirty white background with black Georgia font in 12 pt. Enter the title of your ebook in the box beside BUILD EBOOK button then hit the build button. It takes time to convert the txt file to jpeg. Also, it eats about 20-30 MB of memory. When done, unable usb mode. Go to PICTURES in your PSP XMB and you'll find a new folder with the ebook title u have entered. Read it in jpeg format. Just press L or R in your PSP to turn pages. Sometimes an ebook takes up 1000+ images and psp only views 1000 of it. So to continue reading the remaining pages, erase the previous images.


4. Use Bookr, a free application that let's you read txt file and pdf formats (no conversion needed). Download BOOKR, you can also download here. Note:this installer works only with PSP CFW version (those with M33 like 3.71 M33). If you have the ofw one (no M33) then only the above 3 applies to you. If you got confused on where is the download option in that page, you have to click the icon/picture below the warning that this file might harm your computer (but it won't). To install, plug your psp to pc and enable usb mode. Remember the drive path of your psp (f: or g:), you will need it in the installation. Run the bookr installer and type your psp drive and your done. Send your ebook files to PSP>GAMES>BOOKR>BOOKS. Disconnect psp from desktop and run bookr in GAMES. Read the help there. It will teach you how to use bookr. Sometimes you have to save your ebook with bigger font. Use comic sans 13pt. Zoom in or out the views to make the pages fit the screen. You can bookmark pages with this application. It takes less memory storage along with your saved ebooks.

Free Mobile Browsing from Globe and Smart

Globe mobile browsing using opera mini is now gone. I enjoyed it until the end. But still, I made a research on how to make it work for free. Others had also experienced the loss. I downloaded opera mini 4.2 from the net and installed it on my phone but it cannot complete the installation due to no network connection (the bar is full and 3G is showing) and maybe I don't have load that time.

Based from what I read from the forums, the freebie is existing long ago and I was a bit late of discovering it. Then, I remember that I also own a Smart sim and I look it up on the web on how to make it work for free. Yippee! There’s still hope! I spent 10 pesos for Opera Mini 4.2 to fully install in my N70. There is no tweak to make it install for free.

Update: Working Modded Mobile Applications as of April 6 2009

Now, let me show you how to make the application browse, stream videos and download files with only P1 in your account. This uses the original OM 4.2. Additionally, have a P15-balance during the install.

As for Globe users, CLICK HERE. The post will show you how to use Opera Mini 4.2 and 2.06 modded versions. All the links are there as well as the proxies. But the technique is only limited to browsing.

Make sure that you have the GPRS setting for your cellphone. You can request it by typing SET urFone and send to 211. Next thing you’ll do is create a new access point using. For N70 users, Tools>Settings>Connection>Access Points>Options>New Access Point>Use Existing Settings>Choose SmartInternet. Rename it to Smart OM. For other phones, you can figure this out by going to the network/connection/web settings. Basically, the settings are just the same. The important thing is to enter correctly the following values on their appropriate fields:
APN: internet (for 3G phones. Otherwise, enter smart1)
Proxy: 60.216.45.10
Port: 8088
Ok and Exit.

Alternate proxies in case that won’t work,
Proxy: 77.242.169.70
Port: 8081

Install OM 4.2 on your fone using PC Suite or by accessing your file manager MMC. You should have downloaded the .jar format. Run Opera Mini on your phone to complete the installation. Choose Smart OM when asked which profile to use during network connection. Agree to the TOS found at the bottom of it’s start page and your OM is now ready.

Enter the url of your desired website say multiply, friendster, myspace, youtube, facebook, ANYTHING.

To let the application save files on your MMC and make downloads, Go to Tools>Application Manager>Opera Mini 4.2 Options>Suite Settings>Edit User Data>Choose Ask Everytime. Do this when you are not running OM. Some phones require the prov files to make downloads but I can’t provide that.

To download files for free, everytime you download, edit first the url of your file by adding wap.smart.ph@. Say, your file’s url is http://www.airmp3.com. It will be like this, http://wap.smart.com.ph@www.airmp3.com. This what they call the @trick. To do this, when you are at the download page on which the browser let’s you choose between Open and Save, Press Menu>Enter Address>Insert Symbols. Note: Not all files are downloadable, only the direct downloads. Java Enabled downloads are not possible.

Next thing you want for your cellphone is to stream videos online. The process uses the default Smart settings (SmartInternet or Smart GPRS) but the service is free.

To watch videos:
1. REAL PLAYER>OPTIONS>CONNECTIONS>ACCESSPOINT>SmartInternet or Smart GPRS.
2.Open opera mini and go to youtube and search your video.
3.Click Watch Video.
4.Press yes when prompted.
5.Wait for it to load and you cracked it! Its pretty fast during morning.
Make sure you have 3G Signal to ensure quality and uninterrupted videos. When the signal is low, your video will continue to buffer and will result to pixelated images.

How to Back Up Your Widgets when You Change Blogger Template

I recently changed my template from 2 columns to 3 columns. But when i uploaded the xml template, i received a warning that all my widgets will be removed and not be recovered. So, here is what you do especially for beginners like me:

1. Search for the template that you like (use google.Type blogger template free). There are 2 formats, the xml and the copy-paste one. You download xml and copy-paste the other one.
2. Open your blogger acct, click 'customize' at the upper right corner. Click 'edit html', the second tab after page elements.
3. Check the 'expand widget' box. And copy-paste the codes in the box using notepad to back up your old template.
4. View your blog.
5. Click the screwdriver icon at the end of each widget. And copy-paste again the codes that will pop-up in notepad. Be sure to name them so you will not be confused later when you set them up. There are some widgets which doesn't have codes, just take note of their kinds. You can get them again when you add gadgets using your new template. Just copy-paste the codes until you exhausted all your widgets.
6. Go back to 'edit html' window and upload your xml template or if you got the copy-paste one, replace the codes in the html box with your new one.
7. Save and view your new template!

I encountered another way of backing up but it is only good for those who have knowledge in html codes. You search and copy every widget code. Then once the html code of the new template is available in the html box, the next problem is where to paste the copied widget codes. Surely,this is no good for those who can't read the html language.

Rollbacks yet no Rollback

Oil price rollbacks had been the recent news on Tv. From the price of PHP 50 per liter, it is now worth more than Php 30. Then,some oil companies have also announced that there will be another rollback this December as 'gift' to the drivers.

How come that the tricycle fare in my town is still PHP 8? It was 6 pesos before but due to continues oil price hike, the fare also went up last september. There have been rumors that if there will be a reduction, it will only amount to 1 pesos! The government unit responsible to implement this change haven't acted til now. Whoever lead that unit, he surely is playing safe. The drivers want more, the commuters want less. So, he is to make the best solution, that is to meet halfway. Before, there were so many hikes yet the drivers strived to exist with only 6 pesos as fare. Now that oil price has gone down,they can't take to risk to resume the old fare. Are they afraid that there will be another boom in the future?So they are taking the opportunities now to prepare for such event. I don't get the logic. When it goes high again, the commuters will understand if they take action to increase rates again. But now that the price is backsliding,they should also consider the interest of the commuters.

Browse the Net through Your Cellphone

With OPERA MINI 4.2, you can now surf the net faster! Not only that, you can go to a wide variety of websites and toggle views in mobile mode, computer mode and landscape format. View the internet as if you are using the computer. It has built-in cursor-like feature to browse a page but no right-click function. When you disable mobile view, you can view the whole page as seen in the computer and magnify the part in which you want to click. It also allows java scripts, but they don't animate. You can make downloads but uploading files is not yet available. You can also stream online videos from youtube. So, replace your old phone browser now!

I use it to update friendster, multiply, blogger and the forums i am involved. I haven't tried to attach documents though in using my web mail. The speed is fair enough for my mobile. It is an 8 out of 10 deal, good enough for a mobile browser.

To download, click the button with Opera Title at the left sidebar.

There's a technique on which you can use this for free! (Smart Philippines only)You have to create a new Access Point (like the Smart GPRS and SmartInternet). Rename this New Access Point as Smart opera. Then input the following values:
APN: internet
Go to the Advance Settings (press Options for Nokia) and enter
Proxy: 60.216.45.10
Port: 8088
Hit ok and run your opera mini using the profile you created above. Application installation requires P10 Load. To let Opera mini access your files, go to Application Manager>Opera Mini 4.2 (Options)>Suite settings>Edit user data>Ask everytime.

Alternate proxies in case it won't work:
Proxy: 77.242.169.70 at port 8081

Can you keep a secret?

I don't know if this is a feature of their wap. But it is a known fact that browsing thru myGlobe is free. When you use OneSearch or go to external website, you will be informed that leaving the globe portal will charge you either per kb or per 15 mins. I clicked the 'proceed' link in the screen which contains such reminder (take note i don't have a cent in my prepaid acct) and whala i was able to browse wikipedia for free. Wikipedia is such helpful tool for me since i want to read reviews before i watch or read something and when I get to see a goodlooking actor in movie that I haven't known before. I read biographies of famous people. Through myGlobe I am also able to make searches in yahoo answers as well as chat with my buddies online and check my emails. This is the sole use of my phone before. But when I dropped by to the 'mobile social networks' category in the myglobe portal, I was able to log-in to multiply, friendster and facebook. I now rarely use my phone modem to connect to the internet. If I only have to check mails and comments, I just use my phone.

Then, I came to know Opera Mini. OM is truly a treasure. Not only that I am able to update my blogger acct (I am using my fone ryt now), I am also able to browse in a view as if I am using my laptop! Now, I can go to vast number of websites unlike when I am just using the installed browser in my phone which limits me to wiki and yahoo answers only. I can also download free java games but I can't get rid of their ads update (it is ok as long as I don't have to pay each time I use the wap for that update). You can even watch youtube videos! All of these with nothing in my balance! Try it!

The downsides: when using your fone native browser, it is really slow. You have to schedule your browsing time either late in the evening around 11 or early in the morning to have experience faster speed. Sometimes it is unresponsive and needs a reload.

Opera Mini connects and downloads at a decent rate. But there are also times of unresponsiveness and hangs. But Opera Mini has a 4 out of 5 rating for me. Your phone's installed browser can't beat its speed and the quality of the images.

Ssshh.. If they discover this, the freebies will be gone. Wink

See,once you got them, you can't get rid of them unless you use it in stores which circulate them. So, if people just stock these coins then there is a loss in our fund. If many people do this,have we been wasting a something amount in our monetary fund if they were not able to circulate?

His life made a sudden turn when he got hold of a book that reflects the kind of life he has and the life he wanted in the future. He researched on topics like spirituality and living. He changed his name to Yussuf Islam, wed his wife and taught his kids the ways of being a Muslim. He built the first Muslim school in UK using his own money. He auctioned his instruments and gave the proceeds to charity. With his popularity, he became the spokesperson for the Muslim community when war broke in Bosnia. He returned to his singing career after his 15 years of abandonment. His songs now depicts life and the music was different from before. He was such a person who searched and found what he had been looking. I am truly inspired on how he made a significant life out of his lifetime.

It has been my observation all my life that a man's achievements rest less on his abilities than they do in his character. It's not what a man can do; it's what he will do. That's why you find so many brilliant failures, so many people of no more than average talent who succeed. They have put to use all they had while the other fellow either misused or misdirected it.

Of murders and convictions

Lovers of crime fiction and even more so, followers of true-life crime stories have a weakness: They want the story to come to a satisfactory climax and denouement which finds justice being evenhandedly meted out, the guilty punished, the innocent freed to resume their normal lives. Bonifacio Day Disaster

It had been raining hard since Saturday night. The weather bureau had announced that we are not experiencing any storm. What we have that night was only heavy rainfall due to cold front. I woke up from sleep and discovered that our streets were already flooded. Since our place is located at low area, that scenario was a usual one especially after heavy downpour. What is unusual is that it continued raining for the rest of the day. What seems to be an ordinary Sunday for the Bicolanos turned out to be a disaster. It was reported that our only source of drinking water is already contaminated due to broken pipes in the main water lines and this lack of supply of water will continue for at least 15 days! Also, the bridges linking us from other provinces have already given up due to violent out flow of water from the rivers.

This force of nature had strike us so unexpectedly. Outside, the water had risen to the height of an adult person. The streets were no longer visible. The water inside our house is already knee-deep. This made us transfer our things, from books to appliances, to higher locations. Electricity was also cutoff and our only source of fire, the gas range, is already floating in our kitchen. It was an experience to have a candle lit dinner while muddy water flows under our dining table. After we have disarranged our house to keep things from getting soaked, another burden waits our tomorrows. Once the rains stopped and the water washed away, how will we dry our sofa in this cold and rainy season? Will we have the same amount of adrenalin pumps to reorganize our place and remove all the mud residues? We surely have tiring days ahead. And take note, more tiring days! Not only we will not be able to take baths regularly, we also have to deal on where will we fetch water to wash our clothes and dishes if the only possible alternative is the rain which in great amounts can turn our streets into a body of water? We are still lucky to have our house intact. Let us not forget how this event had taught people here to trust in the Lord in times of troubles and weaknesses.
