How to Restore Your Computer Settings after Removing a Virus?

Even the Ravmon virus is now a history, the Ravmon Removal tool is still a handy one.

If you were able to clear out the virus in your computer system, the after effects of the virus is still there. Your computer will not automatically restore to its previous state.

The after effects of most viruses are:

1. My Computer Drives Context Menu Problems
2. Folder Option has been missing from Tool Menu in My Computer
3. Folder Options "Show Hidden Files and Folders"& "Hide protected Operating system files" will not be working.
4. Task Manager, Registry Editor, Command Prompt ,RUN and Folder Options are disabled

You can use this tool to restore all of the above problems. It also gives you an option to disable AutoPlay on All drives which can prevent any virus-carrying USB drive to infect your system. You can also use the Ravmon Removal tool to delete the hidden autorun.inf file (the file utilizes the spread of virus in computer) in your hard drives and plugged USB. It's free!

Download Ravmon Removal Tool

How to use it:
1. Run the application.
2. If you want to use the tool to remove the autorun.inf file in your hard drives and flashdrives, click both the "Remove Virus from Hard Drive" and "Remove Virus from USB Drive" buttons.
3. If you want to remove the after effects of previous virus in your system, click the "Restore Windows Default Settings" button. Tick the actions you want (I suggest you tick them all) and click the Apply button.
4. You will be asked to restart your computer. Click OK.
5. After restart, your computer settings will be restored.

Notes: There is a small chance that your restore actions will be successful if the virus is still running in your system.
Compatible with Windows 2000 and XP.
I think it will be better if you will disable the "Hide protected operating system files" in the Folder Options to monitor any unnecessary hidden files in your drives.

All Text 30 from Smart

New from Smart!

With your PhP30, you can have 180 texts to Smart-TNT and 10 texts to other networks. The service is good for two days after the reload.

You can avail the promo by reloading from Smart e-Loaders or by texting ATM30 to 2827 using your regular load. Maintain PhP1 balance while using the service.

I am not a texting person, so I don't find the benefit of this promo. But if Smart can come up with more cheaper calls options, I will surely buy that, like unlimited call for a day. I am still not satisfied with the P15/5 mins but the P20/20 min is the best offer for now.

Win32 virus?

My Aunt’s laptop got infected with virus on which the name remains unknown to me. Somebody suggested to me that it is the Win32 virus and it is currently hitting the internet shops in my province.

Here are the symptoms:
1.When the computer loads, the taskbar and desktop icons are nowhere to be seen. Only the wallpaper and the mouse cursor appear.

2.Right-click is disabled but I can open the task manager by pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL. I can make new tasks and run the program from the NEW TASK button. But when I run the explorer.exe, a message will appear that the execution of this task will harm my computer and the action is restricted. But after few minutes of ignoring the message and accessing the explorer.exe, the taskbar will now reveal along with the desktop icons.

3.I cannot use the internet and the security settings are not accessible, they cannot be clicked and the areas are grayed.

4.When you access the task manager processes, you will find Explorer.EXE or EXPLORER.EXE, SVCHOST.EXE, they are all in CAPS except for a few.

I wasn’t able to resolve this issue. I booted through the XP CD already. After repairing the system, it will load normally but after restart, the problem is back.

The solution I had done is to back up the files and install a fresh XP.

The virus is so difficult and I wasn’t able to know where the problem is coming from. I searched the net but the solutions are not effective. If you got any suggestions on this matter, use the comment form.

House Season 5 on AXN

House Season 5 will air every Monday on AXN starting March 9, 2009. Even I had watched the eight episodes already, I will surely wait every Monday at 10 pm for this show. I once told myself that I will not watch any of the Season 5’s episode until it is over because the Hameron shipping is already out of the story, but I can’t resist the temptation when my sister brought home a pirated DVD of the latest season.

Some Spoilers:
Wilson tried to convince himself that he doesn’t want to be in the Princeton Plainsborough anymore because the place reminds him of Amber. He quitted the job but thanks to Wilson-House bonding (after House’s father funeral), he had come into his senses. Wilson drugged House just to let him come to his father’s funeral and House tried ways to get out but he failed. It will be revealed that House and Wilson met in a bar and House bailed him out of jail because he threw liquor bottle to the person singing in the videoke and missed it thus breaking the bar’s window. The event repeated when House confronted Wilson and Wilson got so angry and he threw a bottle of wine to House and missed again. They are still the good part of this show (Welcome to couple's counseling!)

There is a new character, the Private Investigator Lucas (Michael Weston), who will be present for almost three to four episodes. He likes Cuddy and he is tracking House’s employees, Wilson and Cuddy. House will find out about Taub’s wife’s separate bank account (she wanted to buy him a car that’s why). The P.I. found nothing exciting on Foreman’s life besides his history of picking locks and Foreman is bothered with it (it makes him a boring person). Actually, I don’t like the presence of the P.I. guy on the show.

Cuddy is adopting a baby since her tries to have one did not occur. She shops for the baby’s things together with Wilson and he is also the one who is recommending her for the approval of the adoption. But the donor mother changed her decision after having her baby but Cuddy will still have one. Cuddy and House kissed but they didn’t go to bed. Cuddy will temporarily move to House's office.

I don’t know if House is in love with Cuddy but it seems he does though he won’t admit it because of the existing policy on co-workers romances (oh, my hope for Hameron is slimming).

Thirteen is having sex with women she doesn’t know. One patient had sex with her just to let House diagnose her illness. She will have a relationship with Foreman and her Huntington's disease will be under clinical trials.

Cameron will have a case. She and Chase will clear out the issue between them. Cameron will move on from her husband’s memories and she will let Chase have his belongings in her apartment (it's the issue).

There’s nothing new with Kutner, still the fun guy.

I am working on the episode recaps, just wait.

ANOVA and Pearson for Likert Scale Analysis, Huh?

I had been analyzing data of masteral students (my teacher corrected me before that there is no "masteral" word but "master's student" doesn't sound good). One problem I had encountered was the use of parametric tests to those that concern ordinal variables. My professors in UP taught me that Always, Often, Sometimes and Never are ordinal variables and they had also quoted that the measurement of this likert scale is still debatable to whether it is nominal or ordinal. I analyzed two questionnaires with this type of measurement using nonparametric tests like Mann-Whitney, McNemar, Friedman Test and Kruskal-Wallis but the panelist who checked them both refused the tests that I had done. They suggested the ANOVA and t-Test for the differences and reconstructed a problem to concern correlation/association. The tests they suggested for the correlation was Pearson R. What?!

My classmate once asked my professor this issue on ANOVA for the likert scale and yes they agreed that the test is not appropriate because ANOVA is for interval variables. So, Pearson R is also not an appropriate test for the correlation of ordinal variables as for the rule. There are no special rules for the use of ANOVA and Pearson for the ordinal variables, right? I just followed the panelists’ advice because I want those students to pass their thesis defense. Even if I feel that I violated my learning, I am still not in the position to contest their knowledge because they had been advising theses before I was able to gain my statistical knowledge. It’s like they are veterans already and I am just a fresh bud. It just confirmed my belief that some schools in my country are not providing the students with the right learning. I hope that those in their level will be kind enough to tap these people's backs and enlighten them on the issue. I may be wrong with this so please let me know!
