The device is locked for Globe use only and so, I have to unlock it. I found a FREE way to that. Thanks to Huawei Code Calculator, I was able to use a SmartBro Sim in my Tattoo MobileWifi for internet use! The process needs to generate an unlock code so it will need an internet connection first and a Google+ account.

Before, I used Chikka.com to send free texts because I cannot afford to have regular load. I had also used the magtxt.biz SMS service. Now, I just found the widget which lets us send FREE SMS to mobile users from the web right into i-Share blog! No need to log-in, not even your own cellphone number.

Access the Internet for FREE with Smart (With Download Capability)

Since Smart is now Offering free unlimited access to seven social networking sites, this means that we can use some tricks again to browse the internet for free without using the Powerapp. You can browse via Handler modded Opera Mini and UCWEB browsers.

Procedure:
1. Text FREE (space) SOCIAL to 5555 and wait for the confirmation message. 
2. Go to your phone's connection settings and create a new internet configuration with the following values:
Connection Name: Whatever Name
APN: internet
IP/PSA:  37.228.107.253 or any global IP
Port: 80
 3. Open your Opera Mini or UCWEB Handler and input these:
Http server: www.twitter.com
Socket server: www.twitter.com:1080
Front Query: www.twitter.com
Remove Port (x)
If you don't have OM Handler, use this.

Browse the Net for Free with Your Android Phone and Opera Mini (Globe and Smart)

Since Android phone has become widely used instead of symbian phones, some of you might be asking what about our andoid phones, can it also browse the web for free just like that old symbian platform? Well, it can now! Globe and Smart users of android phones can now enjoy the unlimited free browsing with the modded Opera Mini available. I am an avid Opera Mini user, so I prefer OM over UCWEB since its much faster.

Update: You may also try this new trick for zero load browsing, refer here for Globe and here for SUN.

Download Opera Mini in your android phone (Samsung, HTC, Sony, etc.)
for Smart/TNT
for Globe/TM

Installation:
1. Go to your phone's Settings--Configuration--default internet configuration settings--Choose MyGlobe Connect (or Smart MMS)
2. Install the downloaded Opera Mini 7.5  in your phone. It's pre-configured so you just need to allow data access in your phone.
3. Start browsing the web all day long. It also supports download.

Free Internet Browsing with Opera Mini (Globe and Smart)

I have noticed that many of the readers are still searching for the free internet, I now give you with affirmation that internet browsing for FREE is still up and running in the two biggest network in the Philippines. Make sure your phone's GPRS is activated before proceeding with the installation and set-up. For Smart, you need to have at least P5.00 load and for Globe even zero load will do. For android users, you may refer to Browse the Net for FREE with Your Android Phone and Opera Mini.
Note to foreign readers: You can still use the app but the settings will be different. Please refer to your network provider details.

Breaking Dawn Part 1 and 2 (Free Ebooks and Movie Links)

Breaking Dawn is the fourth installment in the Twilight Saga by Stephanie Meyer. This last book follows Eclipse where Edward Cullen and Bella Swan got married. Now, they are in their honeymoon and Bella found out that she's pregnant. The plot revolves around their child Renesmee, a half-human and half-vampire who from the very start of Bella's pregnancy had caused havoc to her and the Cullen family. Believing to be a threat to the vampire existence, the Volturi planned to destroy the child and the Cullens.

I had watched the part 2 movie and I can say that it ended well onscreen. Great story indeed! You will surely fell in love with Jacob Black's body. The plot was a bit slow in the beginning but it will regain its reputation with an unexpected twist near the end.

How to Read Epub Files for Free?

E-books and e-zines now are not limited to pdf, jar and mobi formats. Epub formats are becoming widely used ever since the existence of android and smartphones, Kindle and iPad.

What is epub format?
From en.wikipedia.org, it is short for electronic publication; alternatively capitalized as ePub, ePUB, EPub, or epub, with "EPUB" preferred by the vendor which is a free and open e-book standard with .epub as extension. This format has flexibility of resizing fonts, bookmarking pages and selecting your own reading layout.

How to Read ePub Format?
Note: all programs/readers included in this post are freeware, meaning you will not pay any amount using them. 
Epub formats can be read using a mobile phone, a tablet like iPad and Kindle or a computer (either using the web browser or using installed programs.

The Hunger Games Series Ebook Download (Free)

The Hunger Games is a trilogy book by Suzanne Collins. The book series started with The Hunger Games (2008), it is then followed by Catching Fire (2009) and ended with Mockingjay (2010). The series follows the story of Katniss Everdeen and the annual conduct of Hunger Games in Panem.

The 13 districts of Panem revolted against the Capitol some 75 years before the 74th Hunger Games. The Casual Vacancy: A Review and Ebook for Download

When I heard that the author of Harry Potter, J.K. Rowling, has a new book, I was hesitant to it thinking that it is another out of this world adventure novel. But then I happen to came across an ebook of The Casual Vacancy and I tell myself that I can download it and read it sometime when I got the interest. And it turns out to be a page-turner when I started reading it. It's an easy read especially if you are British because of the political jargon contents. I first thought that a parish council is the same as what we have here in the Philippines, a part of a religious group who are stereotyped as good-natured people. But then I realized that it is equivalent to the barangay council of the Philippine political system. The typical politics story, indeed! It is an interesting novel with a tone of drama, tragedy, soul-searching, identity crisis, rivalry, jealousy and revenge which are usually triggered by the small town folks gossips. If you happen to like the Bob Ong book entitled MacArthur, you will also be moved with this one.

One thing I just don't appreciate in it is that there is a number of characters on which I sometimes fail follow or recall their stories and backgrounds as I go further in the book. It's a tasking job to make mental notes of them. But the side stories were all interrelated and necessary to make the whole plot. In the end, Rowling was able to patch them up together and made a good one out of it.

How to Download Videos Hosted from a Site (i.e.Youtube, Dailymotion, etc.)?

You're getting tired of Youtube's buffering because you are in slow connection, or you want to save the movie in your drive for future use? You don't want to download torrents for the new movies, or your video is hosted at some site and it doesn't have the download option, then read through this post.

Before, I use online applications to do this, like vixy.net, catchvideo.net and savevid.com. But the time to convert the video URL into a downloadable link is adding time to your internet browsing. And sometimes when you are at a computer shop, there will be instances that the computer doesn't support java because the java plug-in is not installed on the browser. If you download the java and install it, it will take about 15-30 minutes depending on the internet speed. Within half an hour, you still haven't started your video download.

I suggest that you install a program for more convenient downloading (even if you are at the internet shop, they sometimes have Deep Freeze, so it's not a bother). I heard about a program called Youtube downloader, but I would not suggest it since sometimes it doesn't work and it fetch slow. My picks are these:

How to Read Ebooks on Java Platform Phones (s40 and s60)

If you have a java-enabled phone (i.e.N70, N73, N95, Nokia C3-01, etc). and you have new ebooks like Hunger Games and Perks of Being a Wallflower in epub or .txt format and you don't know how your mobile phone is going to read them, then just use Albite Reader.

I have gotten this ebook reader when wattpad.com started limiting their collection of ebooks and the popular stuff are no longer reachable. I was a member of mobile9.com where I usually download cellphone themes and ringtones. Then I noticed that they also have collections of ebooks but mostly in epub format. You can try their collection here, just select your phone model. I only knew then that my Nokia C3-01 can only read .jar ebooks. But as I read through the comments of some ebooks, I only need to download this so called Albite Reader. And voila, I am grabbing every interesting ebook in the site! Albite.org now have the new Albite Reader HD 2.2. It can also read .txt and (x)html format but I usually prefer .txt files in UTF-8 format. And it's absolutely FREE!

It has a night mode, page bookmark, copy-paste feature and text font sizes are also interchangeable.

Browsers in the Time of Slow Connection

As I have mentioned in the previous post, I have experienced the 2G internet signal of Globe Network on which I was able to bear for more than a month. During those slow connection days, I have installed quite a few browsers to compensate the slow loading of pages. To name those few, I had (and still have with my laptop) Avant Browser, Maxthon, Flock and Comodo Dragon in addition to my existing Firefox, Chrome and Opera browsers. I have read first a couple of reviews of these browsers before finally convincing myself to install these new ones.

So, which one will I recommend to those who are in the same shoes as mine before? It's definitely the Avant Browser! Why?
